One of the things I’ve been learning here at Robot Butt is that good journalism depends first and foremost on good research. As an intern here, I get the chance to write a couple of articles for the site, and for my first official Robot Butt article, I decided to cover the history of the Robot Butt robot – the logo and the statue in the lobby.
I haven’t officially pitched the idea yet, but I think the management here will really love the idea. They seem like the type that love getting the company’s butt kissed.
While I originally started the project as a way of doing some brown-nosing, it’s actually been fascinating so far. It turns out that hardly anyone knows anything about the history of the logo or the statue. The only person that’s had anything to say has been Rex Forsight, and all he would tell me was that some things are best left alone.
After I figured out that asking people was going to be a dead-end, I realized that I needed to dive a little deeper. I remembered that the CEO had mentioned the robot statue came before the logo, and assuming he was telling the truth, I figured the statue might be the place to start.
I made my way back down to the statue, and took a closer look at the markings on the leg I had noticed when the CEO first showed me around the office. After getting a closer look, I realized the markings definitely weren’t just some random scratches, it was absolutely some sort of writing. I tried my best to draw a copy of what I could see, but without jumping over the fence blocking the base of the statue, I couldn’t get it all.
