Robot Butt authors Bronson and Brian recently kicked off the four-day long Washington, DC-based In It Together Fest with the Robot Butt Live Half Hour Comedy Variety Show. The performance began with the following video:
Starting off-stage, the two came running in throwing cigarettes to a cheering, adoring and ravenous audience desperate for comedy-related sustenance. Following what could only be called a ground-breaking opening performance, the two then took a minute to get serious with a PowerPoint presentation explaining some of the unique hashtags the team had hired a DC marketing agency to create.
Next came the videos. The first block tore the audience a new laugh hole with fan favorites like “Worst Move Trailer Ever,” “The Burger Baron,” and “Cutest Cat Video.”
After the first video block, Brian took a moment to thank everyone for coming and to tell an amusing anecdote about how Bronson shamefully couldn’t remember the lines to a variation on “Who’s On First?” that he had just that day suggested they do.
The script really would have killed if they could have pulled it together. Sadly it just didn’t work out. But if it had worked out, it would have gone something like this:
- Brian: Hey Bronson, you know they give bands very peculiar names nowadays.
- Bronson: Funny names?
- Brian: Nicknames, nicknames. Now at In It Together Fest we have Who’s at the Dugout, What’s at Ft. Loko, I Don’t Know is at Hole in the Sky –
- Bronson: That’s what I want to find out. I want you to tell me the names of the bands playing at In It Together Fest.
- Brian: I’m telling you. Who’s at the Dugout, What’s at Ft. Loko, I Don’t Know is at Hole in the Sky –
- Bronson: You know the band’s name?
- Brian: Yes.
- Bronson: Well, then who’s at the Dugout?
- Brian: Yes.
- Bronson: I mean the band’s name.
- Brian: Who
- Bronson: The band at the Dugout.
- Brian: Who is at the Dugout.
- Bronson: Well, what are you asking me for?
After that came the second batch of videos, including the world premiere of the new No Dice film, “Belly Button Galaxy”, followed by “How the World Ends,” and “Most Badass President.” After that, the show was pretty much over, and Bronson went home right away. No one knows what happened to Brian.
