Hey everyone, my name is Darren! I’m the brand-new intern here at Robot Butt, and I’m ready to learn everything there is to know about the publishing world (mostly because one day, I expect to be at the top of it).
I’m about to be entering my senior year as a journalism student at Purdue University and, to be honest, I was starting to get a little scared that I would never find an internship. Not only is it required to graduate, but I feel like getting some real-world experience would really allow me to hit the ground running next year. It’s just so competitive out there.
But I knew if I had the drive to succeed, and kept submitting those applications, I’d get my internship in no time.
And here I am!
Surprisingly, I was hired at Robot Butt without doing an interview, which sure is unique, but I like companies that are progressive in their methods. It makes me feel like I’m ahead of the game, you know? I couldn’t really find much information on past Robot Butt interns either, except for their old blog entries, but the management here assures me that Jeremy and Amanda were both pretty big troublemakers and they had some nasty ulterior motives, which included doing everything in their power to make the company look bad. Thankfully, they’re gone.
But guess what? I’m here to put my head down and do whatever I need to help the company. You’re not going to see any shenanigans like that from me. Unlike those two, I’m looking to actually have a career. I just can’t believe that there are people my age who don’t care at all about their futures. I guess that’s what it means to be a Millennial.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like to have fun and goof around, though. Besides, those are pretty great qualities to have at a comedy site, right?
Anyway, I’ll be updating you on my journey regularly, so be sure to check back next week for an update!
