As you know, the Supreme Court ruled yesterday that same-sex marriage is a right and every state in the country must recognize it. It was a huge win for gay rights and humanity overall, proving that maybe there is a reason to always hope that things can actually get better in our world.
Since the decision, it’s pretty much been a nonstop nationwide pride party, and the one of the most surprising/encouraging things out of this is just how much widespread happiness there really is surrounding the decision. The fun and celebration likely won’t stop anytime soon, so to help keep it going, this weekend’s jam is one of the best gay anthems of all time – “Macho Man” by the Village People.
“Macho Man” was a hit single from the album of the same name, released in 1978. As for the the music video, it definitely plays up the group’s affinity for gay fantasies, because there are all sorts of close-ups of hairy chests and muscles. And even though it’s been used comically for so many years, it’s actually a really good song (but I’m a monster and I do like me some disco).
