DAYTON, Ohio – Conflicting stories and infighting continue to splinter the social structure of the entire seventh and eighth grade classes here at Pete Rose Middle School. Despite a growing consensus that he’s “completely bullshitting,” 12-year-old Trent Trebor still insists that he owns a copy of a Playboy that includes several pictures of first-year math teacher Mrs. Oates.
Trebor first let two eighth graders know about the “late ’90s, or something” issue of Playboy late last week. “They were making fun of him, cause he’s kind of not cool, and then he just, like, told them that he has this magazine with Mrs. Oates in it,” says eighth grader Jackson Odell, who first found out about the magazine’s existence while he was in Mr. Ortega’s sixth period Health and Sensitivity class.
“At first I couldn’t believe it, and then I was like, that makes total sense,” added Tristan Huklet. “Now I don’t believe it again. I don’t know; it’s just so confusing.”
By Wednesday of this week, classmates began to break into two distinct factions. “It became pretty obvious that Trent is lying about this whole thing in order to try to get popular,” says Kim Bladget, 12, who considers herself one of the cool kids. “First he said the pictures were, like, of her in a zoo or something. Then he said that she was in Siberia, naked, but with like polar bear furs on.”
Other students who wanted to remain anonymous claimed they believe Trebor’s conflicting stories are all based on different multi-player universes inside the wildly popular Roblox platform.
“I stand with Trent. I don’t think he has a reason to lie. And you can tell Mrs. Oates would do that,” says Eddie Campban, who was sitting with a few friends who nodded in agreement. “She gave me detention for no reason last week, and she is pretty hot. So this makes perfect sense.”
After several exchanges between the Robot Butt investigative team and Trebor, he was still unable to produce the magazine. Before going to press, Trebor sent a text message to reporters that read, “Sorry. My dad found it. Now I’m punished.”
