The Seventh Sense
We can all see dead people, but can they see us? Use what you know about the hot field of cryogenics to demonstrate what those living beyond death are capable of sensing. (Experiments not accompanied by specimen’s death certificate and donor participation agreement will be disqualified.)
Space Balls
With synthetics dominating athletic products since the 21st century, it’s time to up their game. Come up with the springiest molecular formula and propose the ideal environment for your object to soar to prove you’ve got the making of a high-flying, SAFE, trajectory. And don’t forget Newton’s Law: what goes up, must come down. So let’s see how high your ball can bounce and how well it can avoid injuring us when it returns to Earth.
Candied Yams
The GMO market has nothing on you! What food do you want to see modified and why? Then, how would you do it? Veggies that taste like cotton candy but maintain their nutritional value? Bread that self-toasts? Probiotic frosting? With a vast menu of GMO techniques at your disposal, you can whip up ANYthing, practically out of thin air. Now that’s a “hot” lunch!
Water Water Everywhere
Remember the oceans? Please come up with a way for them to exist again.
The Need for Speed
With our natural fuel sold out, solar power diluted by the cozy blanket of the ozone, and wind power slipping through our fingers with the lack of trees to propel it, what will we use to power your parents’ hovercrafts? Friction? Gas? Recharge your batteries and think up the next great power solution because, honestly, the future is depending on it.
Animals Are People Too
Evolution is alive and well and making our four-legged friends extinct. What new breeds of creatures would benefit the human race by inhabiting the Earth? We’re out of crustaceans and mongooses, but the giraffe-bear is thriving in captivity and drawing huge crowds to the rural zoos that host them, boosting our economy and providing terrific fodder for Marvel movie franchises. Here’s your chance to play God – hypothetically, of course. (Members from the Non-Biological Rights Protection Council will be monitoring this category, so please see the attached code of ethics for rules and regulations.)
Exit the Bio-Dome
Even if you WANTED to leave the protective bubble of our encapsulated environment, how do we know it’s safe? We have all sorts of metrics monitoring “life” outside the dome, but what we don’t have is organic life itself, providing first-hand accounts of what it’s like out there. In this category, you are the experiment. Construct your life support body armor and be prepared to step outside the world as we have known it since the government had to move our oxygen to Mars for its prison colonies. Those who return safely from the required time of at least one hour spent outside the dome receive twenty space credits, good for any lunar excursion in the next thirteen months. (Guardian consent required. Priority given to intergalactic residents.)
