We value your privacy and want you to understand how Company uses your information. To that end, we’ve updated our privacy policy. We here at Company believe it is important that you have accurate and up-to-date information about Company’s private practices, including, but not limited to, all the many ways we compile your data and sell it to advertisers.
The GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation, requires us to update our privacy policy only in regards to residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), but we here at Company believe that everyone deserves protection.
By no means was updating our privacy policy solely for a portion of our customers more of a hassle than an upheaval of the whole thing. Nope. Nuh-uh. The decision was an ethical one. Because that’s what Company is all about.
Updates include:
- IMPROVED TRANSPARENCY: More detailed explanations of the data we collect and how we use it
- GREATER CONTROL: Updated information about your rights and options with respect to your data, such as the privacy settings in the app
- FURTHER KNOWLEDGE: Information regarding the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as a photo of our CEO signing the paperwork (whose eyes are only red because of the camera flash)
- NEW, INTERACTIVE FEATURES: A choose-your-own-adventure style feature in the app where you can follow your personal data to its buyers, and in some cases even direct its course
- A GOOD FRIEND: Additional ways of contacting Company about your privacy, to request further explanation, or just to talk
- EASIER READING: Our Terms of Use are now a much easier read. Take this line, which explains what we do with your data once you hand it over to us: “Company’s got cheap services. That’s because we make money off your info. Without so much info to sell, we’d go out of business. So, like, think about it. What do you want? Cheap services, or the decommodification of your privacy?”
- ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY: New color scheme, which makes everything look super sleek
Our revised privacy policy will be effective starting May 25, 2018. Over the next few weeks, we’ll also be rolling out new tools which include a new privacy center, new privacy settings page, a privacy hub, privacy playground, privacy theme park, privacy hotel, and privacy seven-day Caribbean cruise, where you can customize your settings and more easily understand and manage your privacy choices. We’re also including a new “Download my Data” button for those of you thinking of cutting out the middle man and selling your data straight to buyers.
If you have any questions, please visit our Company Support Center for more information. We appreciate your business, and respect your privacy.
Thank you for using Company,
The Company Team
