LOS ANGELES – Move over, Michael Jordan’s Flu Game. Say hello to LeBron’s Jeans Game!
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been on a tear recently, racking up his third triple-double of the season last night against the Golden State Warriors. What may be most impressive about that stat, however, is that he did it wearing jeans.
That’s right, the NBA’s most renowned player could be seen strutting down the court in a pair of jeans. Players and spectators alike couldn’t believe their eyes when the superstar showed up to shootaround in a pair of slim-cut, raw denim jeans.
“Everyone knows Fridays are LeBron’s laundry days,” said Lakers coach Luke Walton. “I… guess he must have forgotten his shorts at home.”
Officials said they were bewildered when LeBron emerged from the locker room dawning the familiar purple and gold jersey tucked into a pair of tight-fitting jeans. With no rule found against it in the NBA’s official rulebook, no one put up much of a fight as James took the court.
“We weren’t even sure he was actually playing for the first quarter,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, as James opened the game with a wide-open dunk as the rest of the players stood around, unsure of what to do. “We were all very confused.”
When asked about guarding LeBron, Warriors forward Draymond Green said “it was weird trying to guard him. The denim was really uncomfortable against my legs in the post. It felt… wrong?”
Despite being mildly more constricted, LeBron was able to put up an astounding stat line of 22 points, 14 assists and 12 rebounds, earning him the nickname “Denim Devil” around the league.
When talking to reporters after the game, James teased an encore performance, pulling out a pair of ultra-wide JNCO jeans from his locker.
“To be honest, I didn’t forget anything,” he said. “Sixteen years is a long time to be playing. I’m pretty bored at this point. Have to spice it up somehow.”
