Halloween heads are in for a treat, as the Hallmark Channel has finally unveiled the lineup for its much-beloved Halloween movie season, taking place throughout all of October and leading up to the big day itself.
This year, the movie marathon is headlined by the premiere of Hellraiser in Love, starring Lacey Chabert and Luke Macfarlane, two of the heavy hitters in Hallmark’s rotation.
“We’re so excited to bring to you the story of how Pinhead finally falls in love,” Hallmark programming executive Shane Yost said. “For too long, the Cenobites have helped others experience the ecstasy of the flesh, and now it’s time for Pinhead to finally think about its own eternal desires.”
According to insiders, the movie centers on the horror icon as a workaholic Cenobite that is summoned once again to our realm to answer the call of someone who solved the Lament Configuration puzzle box, a woman named Bailey (Chabert) who runs a year-round Halloween store in a sleepy New England town.
Burned out by a constant drive to make humans suffer, Pinhead ends up staying in our dimension longer than anticipated, and finds itself falling for Bailey as the town prepares for its annual pumpkin-carving contest.
In the final, climactic moment of the film, the rest of the Cenobites arrive to take Pinhead – having shedded the leather look for a much more casual Brooks Brothers weekend suit (nipples exposed and bleeding still, of course) – back to their realm, forcing their leader to choose between Bailey and a new, promising life full of love without decapitation. Ultimately, when Pinhead decides to stay with Bailey, compete in the pumpkin-carving contest, and share an inexplicably choreographed dance in the town square, the Cenobites are sent away.
“No tears,” Pinhead tells its former Cenobite cohorts. “It’s a waste of good suffering. Now who’s ready to party?”
