In a move clearly inspired by Brian Kilmeade interviewing Ron DeSantis while playing catch, the CNN anchor interviewed Senator Sanders out on the ice.
Last Monday, the senator from Vermont met with CNN’s John King to discuss his upcoming hearing concerning the price of Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine. Instead of doing a typical sit-down, Sanders requested King meet him at Leddy Park, the arena that hosts Vermont’s minor league hockey team, the Lumberjacks. Similar to Brian Kilmeade’s interview with presidential hopeful Ron Desantis where the two held a discussion while throwing a baseball back and forth, Sanders first asked, then demanded, that King put on goalie pads and ask his questions while attempting to block a few friendly penalty shots.
Sanders then went into detail on his plan to battle rising Covid-19 vaccine prices whilst hurling 105 MPH whizzers right by King’s head. His answers were thorough, despite being broken up by the deafening sound of his icing and slapshots. Notable lines from the senator included, “taxpayers paid for it, so why would Moderna raise the price of the COVID vaccine?” and “John, you’re ducking! Get your glove up. I’m firing clappers over here. Stop ducking them or I’m going to start slashing.”
