A recent study has determined that when either grocery shopping for the whole family or just picking up a few items at the drugstore, the fastest way to now pay is simply throwing your debit or credit card at the cashier when at the counter. “There seems to be a newer, faster, more effective way to pay which surfaces every few months,” began Susan Placer, consumer expert and sociology professor at Cornell University. “The swipe, the ‘tap’ the Apple Watch, etc. The throw or ‘toss’ as some consumers are dubbing it appears to be the new kid on block when it comes to paying with a card.” Said consumer Mike Akin, who’s always looking for new ways to pay, especially when being watched by customers behind him, “When the throw or ‘flip’ started about a month ago,” he began, “you had to get it, like, kinda near the cashier’s face. Now all you have to do is get it anywhere in the vicinity of the register or even just over the counter. It’s pretty cool and definitely the newest, fastest way to pay for stuff.” The report concludes that although the throw is now the most effective way to pay, the transaction will inevitably take longer if there’s cashback involved, the customer doesn’t know their PIN, the machines are down, the cashier is still in training, the card has insufficient funds, the strip is worn, the card is cracked or broken or the chip is missing, in which case handing the cashier an old 20 dollar bill printed 50 years ago would be an effective second option.
